Type the following in a console to make invisible files (mostly with a preceding dot) visible in Finder. Give Finder some time to refresh it’s settings!
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE

I find this especially useful when browsing iPod content (the music files).

  1. Nice!
As an Apple-n00b I wonder, what’s the use of all these .DS*-files??!

  2. Well I don’t exactyl know but maybe it’s like those “thumb” files in windows which just store thumbnail images and other directory specific info? But yes, they kind of suck..
