prodseite_teaser_karte_en.jpg So this is where the future is heading? - a wide spread wireless high speed network which should never leave you unconnected at any time, at any place.

Interesting.

But let’s face the hard facts and test it under real world conditions! After getting the card and its contract (the current offer includes one “free” GB of traffic) it was not a big deal to install everything. It even successfully built up an EDGE connection after a couple of seconds (I was located at the main plaza of St.Gallen - no UMTS or the faster HSDPA there?). Unfortunately my laptops built-in wireless did not work while the pcmcia card was plugged in, but you shouldn’t be using it anyway during traveling sessions..

Skype did not seem to connect corretly - does swisscom block some usefull ports?

I’ll give the card a more extensive try over easter while spending my free time in the swiss backcountry :-).

  1. Sprint has been doing that a few years here in the states…. had my card about 1.5 years… lov eit.

  2. How do you pay your traffic then?

Swisscom did have a 4in1 and an EDGE only card available for almost a year now. I wanted “the full solution” ;-)
