    Do you know that the WRT54GL has a completely different setup in terms of the linux based system you can run on its hardware (hacked versions like sveasoft don’t run anymore, don’t they)?

    I know what you mean but the old WRT54G with Linux (aka the WRT54G v4) is now the WRT54GL (with the L of Linux).
    The crippled one now is the WRT54G v5, but there are some success-stories regarding people puting Linux on these too.
