So I promised to give you guys (and girls :-)) some more updates concerning my recent MacBook buy.

So that shiny little box laughed at me and I just really really had to open it quick. That’s what I did.

DSC000421.JPGAnd that’s what came out :-). A new shiny 2Ghz dual-core with (up to now) 512Mb ram. I recommend at least 1Gig to everyone who wants to feel the speed of a new MacBook (non Apple like Corsair DDR2 667Mhz so-dimms will do it). I especially noticed the high memory usage during Parallels sessions. Be carefull, some apps need special “universal” builds and do not work with Rosetta due to special GUI reasons (for ex. Azureus and SSHKeyChain).

I seem to have everything up and running and I’m very pleased by that real eye-candy that catches my eyes (no more fake os-x look and fell on windows..)!

The only thing I’m really waiting for is a new faster and universal version of Adobe Creative Suite CS and Microsoft Office 2007 (although I run Beta2 on Parallels really fast! But some bugs really suck, especially in excel when trying to create grahps.)

I sucessfully set up my mobile phone as EDGE gateway by using these Sony Ericsson scripts. Also my dual-display setup with a dell 20” widescreen works like a charm. Just plug it in and voilĂ . Unlike a few other MacBook owners out there I do not seem to have any heat issues at all. My MacBook stays relatively cool and very quiet (also with a closed lid)! Unitl now I’m very happy with that new glossy screen. I don’t care if I see myself from time to time ;-) - I even use PhotoBoth sometimes, it’s alot of fun..

I’m still looking for a proper “second skin” like this one. Maybe I’ll just create one by myself.

So I’ll keep you updated on my MacBook adventures. Oh I almost forgot: This is by far the coolest app I’ve seen.

  1. Ah, you’re a rich bloke and bought the one with the Dell-look! :-P
It’s good to read YOU don’t have any heat-issues. And if you like iAlertU, give the SmacBook-application (desktop-switcher) a try too! Have fun and keep us update with your new productive toy.
