So I am now sitting in Singapore for my exchange semester - awesome city, especially the infrastructure! A few backbone internet carriers are giving me a hard time here, especially europe does not seem to be connected like I’d prefer it. Have a look at this traceroute:

update: After really being pissed for having a unbelievably slow internet connection from SMU (Singapore Management University) to most of european hosts I now finally see light. Now the university seems to be connected to some faster carrier with fewer hops and connecting south-east asia directly with europe skipping the US. See for yourself:
I assume all the so called IT oursourcing companies in Singapore have way more reliable redundant connections to server their clients.. They do call themselfs a hub for datacenters.
