I finally got my invite for the Joost beta phase (thanks Stephan)!
The idea of p2p tv is awesome, although Joost (former Venice Project) is not the first project to launch (see Zattoo - it’s restricted to europe and the US though).

My first impressions of version 8.1 (OS X intel):

  • The mac version is pretty stable. It only hung up once after trying to quit.
  • Video-Compression of fast moving objects is kinda bad. I’m not sure how far this is related to bandwith? I wonder what the lag for real tv streams will be. Will they restrict sending to some regions?
  • Scrolling through the lists with two-finger-scrolling is bumpy.
  • Processor usage is between 20-50% (on my 2Ghz dual Core). The fan still keeps on blowing..

See a couple of screenshots:

  1. Interesting! An what about the bandwidth-usage?
Too bad I got an iBook G4, so I’m out of using it on an Apple…
But wait: I got WinXP too! You got any invites left? ;-)
    Nice site redux btw.

Hey, it looks like an awesome program. I just got a new MacBook Pro and I’m dying to put my 3GB of Ram to good use :-) I don’t suppose you have any invites to give out, or know anyone that does? I would really appreciate it! Have a great day!! -Josh (chico.medic@gmail.com)
