iPhone

  • Listen: It all depends on a Gracenote licence. Listen (still very beta) samples 5 seconds of audio input and is able to detect meta data for a tremendous amount of songs based on the MusicBrainz fingerprinting service.
  • Store iPhone web apps with data: tags and base64 encoding in local flash memory.
  • Never do stupid things like wrapping your iPhone in aluminium foil..
  • If you happen to use SummerBoard on an international (ex. German) iPhone themes perhaps won’t display all the icons correctly. A small trick: get into /private/var/root/Library/SummerBoard/Themes//Icons and change the filenames to corresponding titles from your language pack (ex. Calendar->Kalender).
The weather icon is kinda tricky: Either change SBWeatherCelsius.png or SBWeatherFahrenheit.png located in /System/Library/Coreservices/Springboard.app/ (credit goes to a hackint0sh post).
  • If you are sick of not having Flash supported in MobileSafari, try itransmogrify.
  • CallData detects region codes from phone numbers.
