I had already posted my Macbook rev1 wireless issue quite a while back in April. Unfortunately I didn’t really figure out any superb solution which would instantly fix the problem, which actually just had appeared out of nowhere.. OS X 10.5.3 didn’t solve it out of the box either. I actually figured, that the problem most heavily occurs when using Linksys equipment such as WAP54G and WRT54G. Firmware updates did not improve anything. I wonder wether Airports work..
Pev’s tip though finally appears to work on 10.5.3 (I remember trying on 10.5.2 without any success). Enter sudo ifconfig en1 mtu 1492 in your Terminal and try resetting the pram.

I think doing the following in your System Preferences -> Network -> Airport permanently sets your MTU (surviving restarts).
Enjoy (and let me know if it works).
